How to get new animals in Let’s Build a Zoo – GameSpew

Do you play Let’s build a zoo and you are wondering how to get new animals? Here’s what you need to know.

Let’s build a zoo is a lot of fun, but if you think you’re going to have a spectacular zoo within five minutes, you’ll be shocked. Your first attractions will be petting zoo animals like geese and rabbits. So: how do you get new animals to your zoo?

There are several ways to add new species to Let’s build a zoo. However, you need to do more than just throw money at the problem. Here’s what you can do to spruce up your zoo collection:

  • Welcoming the animals from the refuge

On the main Let’s build a zoo card, you will have an animal shelter (although you may have to wait a few days for it to appear). You can pay to adopt these animals and bring them to your zoo, although they are usually variations of existing animals rather than “new” animals. If you always have fun with geese, you won’t find a rhino waiting for you.

  • Animal trade

Besides the animal shelter, you will find other zoos and wildlife reserves on the main map. Others appear as you progress through the game and these will be ready to give you animals – including completely new animal types that you don’t have – in exchange for some of your animals. . The catch is, they might be asking for an animal you don’t have yet; you may need to swap between different locations before you get what you want.

  • Raise them

Animals will emerge from babies naturally, or you can use the nursery to control reproduction (once you’ve researched it). But these will be variations, not new new animals. Cloning is another option, but you only end up with an identical copy of an existing animal, which won’t particularly turn your visitors on.

  • Buy them on the black market

You will have VIPs visiting your park who will offer to sell you animals. Usually these will be fake animals, for example a goose disguised as a peacock or the spliced animals. Expect to pay a lot for the spliced animals, however.

  • Animal events

Every now and then you will receive a message from an outside party, asking if you want to save some animals, for example after a forest fire. Say yes and you will get the animals airlifted to your zoo.

  • Create new animals

You can assemble two existing animals (find out how here) which technically is a new animal. But that does require that you have collected each variant of the two animals you assemble.

All of the above methods have their pros and cons, but if you are just starting out, your best option is to swap animals with other zoos. Good zoology!
